This could be something...

With all the crazy fads and diets going around this time of year I came across one I think I can actually get behind. The writing diet...no seriously, keep reading, this is scientifically proven.

I found this article on a website I usually check in with regularly. It's not a website about running or health or diet. It's about PR, writing in PR. I visit the website for work but this article caught my eye and I thought I should share here.

The article sums up a study that was published in Psychological Science showed that writing for 15 minutes a day about your personal values can effect your weight loss.

The study followed two groups of women and the group that wrote about their most important personal values and goals lost more weight than the group that did not. Hhhmmmm? Very interesting.

It makes sense really.

Think about it, if you spent 15 or even just 5 solid minutes a day reflecting on a few key values or goals that are important, wouldn't you be more successful at them? It brings them to the forefront of your brain again and helps put everything else into perspective. Like a daily reminer.

The writing process just makes you take that time. Other than sitting on the toilet, when do you give yourself a few minutes of uninterrupted 'thinking' time?

One of my goals for 2012 was to make time for writing. It seems like I'll get more out of that goal than just better writing.

How will you make time to just think about your goals for the year?

That does make sense. I find that keeping a diary (and a blog) make me more accountable for my actions, and more likely to stick to my plans.

Just found your blog today. Definitely something to think about. I need to work on writing more but there is something nice about taking time to write, share your feelings and goals, and with a blog be accountable for those goals. I hope to find more quiet time in 2012 to read and write!

I like the toddler diet. You know, the one where they eat the food off your plate and never let you sit down for more than 4 minutes. :)

@Kara, when I first read 'toddler' diet I though it was the one where you just eat everything left over on their plate! Either way, not a good option. Thanks for joining us here!
